Sea of Cortez
Sea of Cortez from Paraiso del Mar
Paraiso del Mar is embraced by the Sea of Cortez described by John Steinbeck as a place where "the very air is miraculous, and outlines of reality change with the moments. A dream hangs over the entire region."
Jacques Cousteau dubbed The Sea of Cortez "The Aquarium of the World" teaming with sport fish, many species of whales, frolicking pods of dolphins, gentle giant whale sharks, graceful manta rays, colonies of friendly sea lions where the tranquil, warm, turquoise water laps onto "powdered sugar dazzling white beaches—enchanted, magical, exquisite!"
Isla Espiritu Santo
Isla Espiritu Santo
Towering just offshore from Paraiso del Mar is the uninhabited protected island sanctuary. Espiritu invites you to drop anchor in it's many secluded azure coves for snorkeling with exotic tropical fish, kayaking, scuba diving, swimming, shelling, hiking and exploring, or an afternoon of relaxing. Just off the north shore are a number of rocky outcroppings which provide a delightful home for a colony of sea lions. The fun loving pups and their moms cavort with the snorkelers while the bulls sit on their thrones and try to out bellow each other. This special place is indeed "magical."
