Matt and Sheri Egnotovich

Matt and Sheri Egnotovich are from Canal Fulton, Ohio where both are in the oil and gas exploration business. Matt is originally from Simpson, PA which is in northeastern Pennsylvania, just outside of Scranton. Matt went to the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Sheri grew up in Alliance, Ohio. She attended college at Mount Union, also in Alliance, where she earned a BA in Accounting.

Both Matt and Sheri work together at their business, M & M Royalty, Ltd. in Canal Fulton. They have a beautiful daughter, Alexa, who is 6 years old and loves to play soccer, dances, and is an excellent gymnast.

Matt and Sheri were first introduced to Paraiso del Mar by their friends Dale and Kim Anderson who are also from the Canton area. "Their description was so enticing; we felt it warranted a visit. It was love at first site when we saw the property, walked the beach, and experienced our first La Paz sunset" says Sheri. "Typically we are morning people and can't wait to spend mornings on our terrace watching the sunrise!"

After spending time in La Paz, Sheri and Matt purchased three units at the Founders launch in May of 2004.

About the city, Sheri has this to say, "The city of La Paz is so welcoming and family oriented."

Steve & Michelle Diehl

Steve and Michelle Diehl are from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Steve has been practicing dentistry for 17 years and is the owner of Steamboat Dental Group. Steve went to Creighton University for his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Michelle is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and a former teacher. She occasionally assists at Steve's practice but primarily focuses on their children and volunteering with the high school youth group at their non-denominational church. Five years ago they moved from Littleton, Colorado with their children Ali and Corbin (now 10 and 8 years old) to live in an area that is more conducive to family life and their pastimes of golf, skiing, camping, and enjoying anything that has to do with the outdoors. Michelle and Steve began their married life in the tropical paradise of Cozumel, Mexico 13 years ago - March 25th. They both have a passion for scuba diving and being near the water, so an island wedding seemed natural to their friends and family.

"We were introduced to the Paraiso opportunity by our future La Paz neighbor and colleague from Steamboat, John Lappori. We knew right away this was a great place for us with golf, scuba diving, and home ownership all on one beautiful island. We love the Mexican culture and the slow pace of island living. It reminds us so much of Cozumel 13 years ago. We have vacationed in Cozumel many times since our wedding and have watched it grow in amenities and value. We have the same feeling about what will happen to Paraiso and are delighted to get in on the founding floor. Dining on the Malecòn in small authentic restaurants and watching the Mexican families out together was a favorite pastime of ours while in Mexico. A Mexican square on Sunday night makes us think of what life must have been like for generations past, in small town USA."

Steve's retirement dream was originally to live on a boat after selling his dental practice; Michelle supported his dream but wondered about the future logistics of the kids visiting. When Paraiso came along, they both knew it was the place for them. So they made the leap at the Founders' weekend in 2004 and chose La Paz instead of a boat. "The decision to buy at Paraiso feels as good to us as our decision to move from the city to Steamboat," said Steve. Steve hopes to change careers in 10 years and possibly captain a fishing/scuba operation off of Paraiso. Michelle wants to run a shop and will be learning Spanish soon. "Living in Paraiso will satisfy our desire to be on the water, stay active, and still have a beautiful home for our kids to come visit," said Michelle. Steve and Michelle are eager to spend several weeks a winter and possibly a month in the summer at Paraiso until the kids are off to college then it will be full time living for the Diehls.

"We have so many ideas of how we can live happily at Paraiso and still make an income. We welcome our friends and family to come visit, play golf, and go out on the ocean with us. The kids are anxious to see it for the first time and will enjoy everyday on the beach (although the thoughts of driving the golf cart from the whale hole to their beach is more exciting to them then anything else). We met so many great people while at the founder's party weekend and look forward to reacquainting when the golf course is open. The sightings of the blue whale, the grey whales, the hammerheads, and the docile whale sharks are intriguing and exciting to us. We look forward to discovering the underwater world in our new home with our new friends as we start a new phase of our life in another tropical paradise."

Tom and Susan Hilb

Tom and Susan Hilb, residents of Denver, Colorado, met at Colorado College in 1960 and married a few years later. Both were natural born entrepreneurs and soon embarked on creating their own businesses. Susan started her own real estate brokerage, "Ranch Creek Land and Development Company," specializing in commercial properties and mountain subdivisions. Tom started Aspen Skiwear in 1962 and sold the company to Richton International Corporation in 1970. He continued in the sports apparel business becoming the president of Hang Ten, Inc., in 1975. In 1980, he became a partner in Ocean Pacific Kids and Ocean Pacific Images in 1982. Tom is currently Chairman of the Board of the Webb-Waring Institute.

Upon the sale of these companies in 1993, Tom and Susan have joint ventured in several real estate projects. Both cherish their time with their four grown children and three grand children and enjoy spending their time traveling and collecting art. They live in Aspen part of the year and appreciate the town for its music and skiing.

When asked why they bought at Paraiso del Mar, Susan said it was the confidence in John. Tom and Susan are current owners at Esperanza in Cabo, which was developed by John Fair and built by Luis Cano.

Susan is looking forward to learning how to play golf and likes the idea of whole ownership. "What we like best about Mexico are the people and the water. When you are there you are away." Susan is excited about going to the Ecology Camp and learning to speak Spanish. "There are two good language schools in La Paz," she said.

Dale and Kim Anderson

Dale and Kim Anderson are from Canton, Ohio. Dale is the owner of an oil and gas exploration company located in Northeastern Ohio. The wholly owned company, established in 1988, leases land for drilling, funds and conducts drilling operations and operates the wells after they are completed. Dale was motivated to enter the oil and gas business when the six acres of greenhouses he owned had become very costly to heat.

Kim has been in the interior design business since 1978. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio in design and has her own company called Kim Anderson Interior Design Inc. She is a professional member of ASID and works locally, but has also been commissioned for interior work in Las Vegas, Florida, West Virginia, and South Carolina. Kim admits that the idea of buying in La Paz belongs solely to her husband: "In my wildest dreams I would not have embraced the vision of La Paz and Paraiso del Mar." After visiting for the launch in May, Kim said, "It was such a treat to meet the people involved in the project. The events and hospitality made us very comfortable with the project. I am especially looking forward to meeting more of the local people, I felt like we were guests in someone's lovely home and hometown most of the time."

They have 5 children, 2 boys and 3 girls, the youngest being 23, and 6 grand children. As Dale comments, "They keep coming!" Dale and Kim are certified scuba divers, enjoy golfing, walking barefoot on warm, sandy beaches and traveling with friends and family.

When asked what they liked best about La Paz and Mexico, The Andersons said that it feels safe, and that it has a very relaxing pace of life. "The number one reason I became interested in La Paz was that I was familiar with the weather in Southern Baja. I enjoy warm days and cool nights, the ambiance and friendliness of its residents," says Dale. "I like the mountains, beaches, low humidity and desert type climate..I am also familiar with other Developments of John's. His construction is excellent. After visiting other areas around the world this was very reasonable verses other near the ocean condominiums being offered."

Their favorite thing to do in La Paz is to sit at the Palapa Bar one hour before sunset, and take in the beach and the ocean. "Looking at the beach and the sunset is very serene," says Dale. Their favorite restaurant is the Bermejo that is located on the second floor of the Los Arcos Hotel. "They have a good bar, the food is good and the view is great," says Dale.

Dale and Kim plan on spending a minimum of a couple months a year at their new home at Paraiso del Mar. They are semi-retired and plan on having their children and grand-children down as often as possible, as well as spending time with their friends for many years to come.

Mike and Wendy Mosley, San Diego

We live and work in San Diego in Del Mar. We own a tack and feed store, (Marys) that keeps us pretty busy. Our new in-laws told us about Paraiso del Mar. We have always loved La Paz, and it just makes sense to us. We enjoy boating and fishing very much and best of all, love the Sea of Cortez. So here we will have it all at our fingertips. Golf will just be an added bonus for us.

Mike and Susan Hornbeck, Medford, Oregon and Cabo San Lucas

We spend six months each year in Medford, Oregon and six Months in Cabo San Lucas. In our careers we have been business owners in the medical industry. We love La Paz, especially it's qualities as an authentic Mexican town, rather than a tourism town like Cabo. We think the size of LaPaz is perfect. The people are really great and a dollar goes a long way. We are boaters and are looking forward to exploring the Sea of Cortez, from La Paz as far down as the Panama Canal. Mike also spends a lot of time playing golf.
